it hurts when i breathe

those of you in australia this week sure are missing some nice weather. it was weird monday when the temperature was 76F and all the trees were bare. today, all the trees have green buds and flowers and it is starting to look like spring.

over the weekend i installed FC2 on my lustre machines, since that's the last FC that can build 2.4 kernels out of the box. here are some kernels i've tried:

• RHEL 2.4: Hangs during boot.
• SLES 2.6: Fatally oopses soon after init starts
• RHEL 2.6: Boots, but when running a UML on it there is some memory leak, and the OOM killer goes to town on your UML threads. Also, you can't log in while this is going on. Don't even load it up.

i found my phone yesterday. it was in my pocket.

it's time to retire

at some point in the last 5 years, something happened with APIC which led me to turn it off on all the machines i could. well, turning it back on seems to fix the booting problems above. who knew.
