don't look down

last night joe and i ate our last meal at our old apartment: thai on the porch (since there was nothing to sit on inside). while picking up pennies before vacuuming, i found a dead mouse by the heater where the futon used to be. i wonder how long it had been there.

the end has no end

after a long struggle this afternoon, i finally got a patch working that i wrote a month ago. in that time 3 other bugs were reopened.

i said good day

i finally got to catch up on TiVo'd TDS tonight, and tonight's episode has been one of the best episodes ever. although, every time mccain is on it usually is.

sell me a car that goes

i really wish phil updated his internet. he's letting me spend a few days in houston next week and i was asking him what kind of clothes i had to wear. another coworker was in the car with him, and i guess he found our conversation a little odd, but i think phil would tell this story better.

wish you were her

i am having a blast here in houston. i hope everyone had a safe national day of freedom. as for myself, i spent saturday morning breaking my TiVo instead of upgrading it, and on sunday i saw most of garden state. here is a recap in an email i did not send to my friend:

it's pretty obvious why i didn't send it; i kind of lost focus towards the end. i think it's happening again...

there was a time

i am 37000 feet above somewhere. it's dark out, and i don't have a map. somehow i tricked phil into letting me get a direct, one-way flight home a day early. publicly, we will say that it's so i can get some work done tomorrow. privately, i will admit that i got kicked out of my hotel room for my top-popping, stump-dumping method of eating muffins this morning. either way, the fact that i could buy a ticket and within about two hours be on that flight without a single civil liberty violation occuring is pretty remarkable. maybe the terrorists haven't won, after all.

in honor of the final hour in the CBA, and the pending locking out of season ticket holders, here is a picture of a bear:

(hunting bears has no lyrics)
flying with congested sinuses is a lot more painful than i ever knew

they are showing some infomercial about vacationing in new york, and the guy from NYPD blue is hosting it. i keep waiting for meatwad to jump on his lap or something.

living the wallpaper life

today i got a tea kettle, toaster oven, brita, and ordered a land line so that he can hear me say "no" next time he asks me to fly somewhere alone. i forgot to get tea.

cloud cuckoo land

there has been a lot on my mind lately, and it usually shows. people i don't know keep asking me if things are ok, and i'm not always sure what to say. most of the time i don't feel like talking about things, because there isn't anything they can do. also, because to get them up to date takes a good 5-10 minutes.

last week at charlie's someone asked if i was ok, and i said i'd kind of had a bad month. they said they'd had a bad week, and i said that my dad just died, and they said, "it's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything." i said i wasn't so sure and then they fell off the barstool and had to be dragged outside.

a flight attendant (who referred to herself as "grandma") on the second leg of my flight monday told me she was worried about me, and that she was keeping her eye on me. maybe it was my suspected terrorist button.

at lunch tuesday of of the customers said i looked tired. i said it's been a long couple of months. he asked, "lots of travelling?" i said, "yeah, i guess so."

my logitech mx700 came in today. i'm excited because it works on my desk without a mouse pad (unlike my older cordless optical mouse).
