10 Rights in Your Pocket

if you ride the T you may want to keep a copy of The US Constitution on your iPod.

christmas in june

last night joe and i went to newbury comics around midnight to get stuff coming out today. i picked up the new simpsons and CYE dvds as well as the new beastie boys.

this is the best simpsons so far, in terms of the dvd production as well as the episodes. they got conan to do the commentary for the monorail episode.

hockey day in cambridge

when the CCM website tells you there is a CCM dealer on babcock, do not believe their lies. however, while looking for that place a guy with hockey skates rolled by, and i asked where he got them. he said online, but invited us to join him and others playing at some park on mem drive on sundays.

on sunday i was watching the dragonboating thing and walking around harvard square and saw some people playing hockey. it turns out i accidentally found the park, and it is much much nicer than the one we'd been playing at:

  1. rounded end boards (i think those are end boards)
  2. goals made of fencing at both ends, attached to the ground
  3. no huge cracks in the pavement!
  4. no pools of sand!
  5. no groundskeeping required!
  6. the fence links were smaller than the other place, so it's harder to get your stick stuck in them and the small ball doesn't go through it.

anyway we missed when the other people were playing, but around the time we got there 3 other people came by so we played 3-on-2 (with joe in goal) for a while. eventually we had 4-on-3 and it was exhausting and fun. you can still get your stick caught when trying to play the ball by the fence, and i speared myself once.

my name is sally and i enjoy sunlight and long walks in the desert.

last night i got a cactus

i told the woman at the checkout line that i was getting it because i was thinking of getting a puppy and i thought it was a good first step. she didn't think this was odd, and started telling me about her daughter wanting a puppy. i said yeah if the cactus dies i won't go to jail for throwing it in the trash or anything, whereas with a dog it'd make national news. she started saying something about christmas, but by that time we were out the door.

a while ago sammy gave me some 15" kds monitors. the one hooked into my pc emits this really high pitched squeal when it's on. usually, i have iTunes loud enough to block it out, but not always. anyway, it is really annoying. i've been wanting to replace it, but i haven't managed to go forward with this.

many of my friends have purchased dell fp 2001 monitors, and enjoy them very much. there were even some sales, where you could save a couple hundred american dollars on them. sadly every time i try to navigate the dell online store, it ends with me slumped down in my chair, sobbing.

then, i go and look at the apple displays. sure, they are a few hundred dollars more, but isn't it worth it if i can actually get to the checkout page? but then i think, "hmm aren't new cinema displays supposed to be out soon?" and then i go look at rumor sites, and they all say they are coming out in a month.

a couple of weeks ago i ordered an airport express, because they are neat little things. i had my powermac hooked up to my big stereo speakers. i figured when the airport express arrived, i'd put that in the living room with the speakers. so, i needed some speakers for my mac.

i ordered some jbl creature 2s but when they arrived they didn't sound very good (compared to the klipsch speakers i have hooked up to the shuttle. i called to RMA, and asked if i could just take them over to the apple store sicne i wanted to ask what my options were. i tried connecting the headphone jack on the powermac to the extra line in on the klipsh volume thingie, but there was a lot of line noise. i couldn't connect it to the line out on the mac, because that is some special mac plug.

anyway, saturday i went over to the apple store. i figured i would just get a pci sound card with a standard line out, and plug that into the klipsch thing. sadly they didn't
